Conditional Offer of Employment

Once Fire Department Investigators complete all background checks, they will turn the information over to the Fire Chief. All viable candidates will then be scheduled for an interview with a Chief's panel. When all interviews are complete, Fire Department Officials will rank each candidate; based on all gathered information, conditional offers of employment will go out to only the top candidates. The offer is contingent upon the results of the following elements:

 

Medical Evaluation

Successful candidates to this point will be scheduled for a physical examination and drug screen with a City of Marietta-contracted medical facility.

 

Psychological Evaluation

Written portions of psychological testing are administered by Fire Department personnel at the Fire Department testing site. This part of the evaluation takes approximately three (3) hours. The City Psychologist will review the results of the written test and then interview the candidate. The interview lasts approximately one hour and will likely take place within the week following the written test

 

Polygraph

A polygraph test is administered to verify the information you have given the City of Marietta during this selection process.

 

FINAL OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT

Once candidates successfully complete all stages of the employment process and accept a final offer of employment, each is fitted for uniforms and issued Marietta City Rules and Regulations, Civil Service Rules and Regulations, and Fire Department Policy and Procedures. On completion of Orientation with the Personnel Department, candidates are considered Recruits and will begin the 15-week Marietta Fire Department Fire School.
