mfd apparatus and equipment

Engine 52 July 2008
In 2008, the Marietta Fire Department took delivery of a 2008 Kovatch Mobile Equipment (KME) Predator "SS" fire engine built by KME World Fire Apparatus. This apparatus was purchased to serve as Engine 52 and to replace one of the busiest emergency units in the city.

This apparatus is powered by a Caterpillar C-13 410 horsepower engine with an Allison 4000 EVSR 5 speed transmission. It is equipped with a Hale Qmax-200 2000 gallon per minute single stage pump with a 500 gallon poly water tank and a 40 gallon poly foam tank.

Other onboard features include a Harrison 8kw PTO Hydraulic Generator. Another feature new to our department is the Ziamatic single arm hydraulic ladder storage rack. This unit stores ladders and other tools over the hose bed and is lowered for easy access when needed. This design allows for extra compartment space on the side of the apparatus. This unit was purchased for approximately $387,000.

Engine 52 also has compartment space designed to carry Advanced Life Support equipment. Although it is primarily designed to combat fire, it is now one of five fire department units capable of providing advanced medical services.
